Kitesurfing in Barbados
Kitesurfing in Barbados is geared for those with an intermediate and advanced level since they are mainly wave spots.
Basically there are 2 wave and wind spots that are located in the south in the Silver Sands area:
Silver Rock: it is a small white sand beach and it is the main spot. It has a choppy area to the reef that is about 250m. The waves break on the ideal reef to jump and surf on the left with the cross-shore wind.
Long Beach: This beach is longer and less populated. It is located upwind of Silver Rock. The waves here are softer so they are better for wave beginners. There is no infrastructure of any kind so it is not recommended to go alone.
The Silver Sands spot is the main one on the entire island as it is the area where the wind blows the most constant and with the most force. It is only 15 minutes from the airport, 15 minutes from the cities of Oistins and St Lawrence Gap.
It is a mainly wave spot. At 250m from the shore the waves break on the reef ideal for surfing and good jumps. The spot is not recommended for beginners.
Barbados’ geographical location allows it to have wind for much of the year, unlike other destinations in the Caribbean with a more limited wind season.
